I missed this game. The authors did a great job porting it, though it is a little rough around the edges particularly in the menu. Big problem: right now it doesnt work on iPhone 4. Please fix that!

Hands down my favorie and most overplayed Top Down Shooter on my device! The storyline is hard to follow and the humor is odd to say the least, but I overlook that for the incredibly fun gameplay and ship upgrades and customizations! (Im a sucker for games with upgrades) This is how new TDS games should be made! Thanks guys for an awesome port!

I loved this game from the moment I first loaded it onto my pc way back in the day. Years later i get it for my iPhone and played it again for the first time, reveling in the joy of Tyrian on my PHONE! What a concept! Tragically, Ive now been robbed of that joy simply because I updated to iOS 4 on my 3G S. Now it simply teases me with the opening screen and then crashes. Fix it fix it fix it!!! Ive never before taken the time to write a review because such things seemed inconsequential to me, but this travesty has caused me to act in order to save a treasured halcyon of my youth. FIX IT! Theres four more stars in it for you if you do...

Fantastic game. Loved it on the PC, iphone and mow the ipad.

Excellent update to support IPad. One little suggestion on next update. Portrait mode for ipad would be nice. Keep up the good work.. Love this game

Im not a pc gamer, but Im a huge shooter fan. After some research, I picked this up and could not be (much) happier. The action and music are blazing, the amount of content is ridiculous, movement is responsive, upgrades are great fun, and level design has a fantastic "Xevious" vibe to it. Since the interface is unexplained, it took me a while to see the fallacy of the button layout. First off, movement should be controlled with the left hand while the right operates buttons. It should at least be swap-able. Since energy conservation is evidently key, firing should be manual, rather than a bewildering autofire toggle. Again, the option would be nice. Despite what may be a inevitably odd control setup, it doesnt detract enough from this amazing package to avoid purchase. Highly recommended.

Its great having the classic game again. This is by far the best vertical scrolling shooter ever made.

I loved the original PC version and this is great. However, some things I want to see changed in an update: - TOO FAST - The game (including the menus) runs too quickly when compared to the original. The in-game speed, though, can be easily changed in the in-game menu. - SHOOTING SYSTEM SHOULD CHANGE - In the original, if you repeatedly click the mouse instead of holding it, you would use your weapon power up when it was ready (its located in the top left corner and theres a red bar indicating if its ready). In the iPod version, you cant repeatedly click to shoot and use the power-up unless you repeadedly turn off and off the main weapon tab (which doesnt really make much sense, but it should be there, just fixed and altered). The main gun shouldnt be constantly on and should only constantly shoot if you are holding your finger on the screen. You should also be able to repeatedly tap the screen to repeatedly shoot, like in the original.

I am so happy that this exists. One of the best shooters ever, and this port is excellent. If youre wondering about whether this lives up to your memories: dont worry, it does.

thank you so much for making this an iPhone app but PLEASE make it RETNA DISPLAY compatable also it needs multitasking.. I think if you invest a little time this game will totally dominate the app store over freaking angry birds do it developer! stop being lazy!

Hi. I absolutely LOVE this game! I play it ALL the time on my Apple iPad/iPad 2! However, it force-closes (or FC, for short) when playing either mode on the 3rd episode (a few stages later; perhaps like the final or next-to-final stage of the 3rd episode), assuming you started from any level(s) before going on to the 4th episode. Please fix this. Is this a bug? Also, I would like to see a new game called "Tyrian 2000", because it has more cheat codes, includes the 5th (or final) episode, and other features not included in this Tyrian (not Lite) game. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! =-D Bug: When playing in any difficulty level mode and whether or not you are in arcade mode, and when you get into the level called "New Dehi" (or "New Delhi?), it force-closes (or crashes) after you finish that level before you move on to the next stage or level. Whats going on? Please fix this! Thank you!

Id forgotten this game completely, but am thrilled to experience it over a decade after its initial release. Just as much fun now as it was then. A fantastic vertical-scrolling shooter. A+

I cant tell you the hours I spent playing the shareware version Tyrian back in the day and have no idea the weeks I spent playing Tyrian 2000. When I found this on the app store, I shrieked and instantly bought it! This is one of my favorite games of all time and to have it on my iPod is a dream! Even on a small screen, this game has been well implemented and plays smooth. Tyrian fans need to support this! If youre a fan of space shooters, give it a go or try the Lite version! Classic game, now always just a reach into my pocket away! Thank you so much for porting this!

Used to play this on my dads pentium when I was around 6 or 7. Just as good as I remember it! If anything you should buy this for being the best iOS shmups on the app store.
