Like every other review, I remember playing this game on my dads old computer back when I was like 6. I havent played this game in years and its exactly the same as before. So glad I found it on the app store!!!

Are you kidding me? A FULL port of Tyrian? For two bucks on my phone? This, Doom, Duke 3d. Thats every game you need. GET IT 0_o
Classic game from my childhood. In depth upgrade system. Insane ship slaughter and boss fights.
Fantastic game - exactly like the pc game. Before I downloaded I was nervous about the touch controls, but now I may even prefer them to a mouse. It works well - totally worth the small price.
The game is classic and classics rule enough said. Btw any1 figure out how to use cheats I beat the game but wanna run it with cheats for the heck of it
This game is incredible, with its endless variety, originality, and explosions (gotta love em) there is no way you can go wrong with it. BUY IT!
Playing this on my iPad brings me way back. Id really like to turn off the candy cane effect now... How do I make it stop
Thank you for this! Great use of opentyrian.
ive bought this game and its awesome i remember when i was a kid i spend hours and hours playing this game. but can you put another way to control the ship like joystick??? pls pls pls i know you can read this pls update the app :)
Firstly, let me say thank you so much for porting Tyrian to iOS. There are a few errors, however. 1) Get rid of the sidebar for the levels and implement the gesture APIs instead. Im thinking, 1 touch for movement and hold 2 touches for firing the main gun. The port is honestly unplayable without a more discretionary way to shoot, as shields wear down, and timing kills for bonuses become impossible. More touches for sidekicks and switching the rear will work well, too, or maybe a pinch to switch. 2) Finish the menu system so it is all touch based, instead of the left bar with buttons for changing items and up/downgrading weapons.
The game is a great port of the original version. The weapon system is basic but still beats almost any other shooter game out there. The only thing that bothers be about the game is the finicky scroll and ok buttons that pop up on the left that I have to use for the weapons and data cube info. Why cant the app be programmed to use touch scrolling and touch selecting?
Been waiting for a port of this epic game to a new modern OS! Love this game and so glad its finally made its way back to my favorite devices. Would like to see saves enabled for arcade and 2 player available between multiple devices! Again nice work.
I love this game to death, and would play it nonstop on DOS when I was younger. but when I purchased the "full" version I was expecting it to be the full version with all 5 episodes.... There are only 4... Other than that, game is amazing!
I love this game...brings back sooooo many memories. Now there are holiday weapons!!! Its hilarious!! love it soooo much.
I love the game mechanics, gameplay, and 16--bit era feel to this game. The story, though, is a bit of a nuisance and rather non-sequitur to itself. Despite this, the endless upgrade combinations and somewhat non-linear level progression make this so much fun. Pick this up. Its the most fun and replayable schmup Ive tried.
The app simply needs to be updated for iphone 5 resolution, and the store has to change so you dont automatically buy stuff by just scrolling buy it.
ROSS SCOTT SENT ME HERE HE WAS NOT LYING
I was really happy to see the game as I have fond memories of playing it countless hours during my teen years. The game is a good reproduction of the original game and controls are good as well. I was happily crossing levels after levels. However, after finishing the level “Fleet”, after inputing my name for making a high-score, the game crashes. I crossed the level several times and it crashes every time. This is really disappointing from such a good game. Device: iPhone 5 (iOS 7.1.1)
Update - Crashes every time after completing the "Fleet" level on my 5s running OS7. Five starts without the crash. Top notch adaptation. And somehow, this action game manages to run perfectly smoothly without rapidly depleting the battery like many similar games. I wish "Scrabble" was as kind to battery life as Tyrian.
Pure classic, rpg element scrolling shooter. Amazing in 95, still amazing
